Our desire is to reach people in the open-air. These pictures represent some of the types of open-air ministry that we do. We do train people for this ministry and every spring the last two full weeks of May we have a seminar on open-air evangelism that can be accredited for two college credits and is very thorough in presenting all aspects of open-air ministry as we do it. At present we have 15 Indian evangelistic teams working in 8 states in india. They are seeing thousands of people trust Christ as Savior. It is not unusual in any given month to see over a thousand people receive the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior in India alone. With this we have Bible studies started in many areaas and are working on a plan to convert these Bible studies into churches.
In New York our program varies considerably. During the winter months we concentrate our ministry on the subway platforms of New York where 4.2 million people ride the subway trains every day and there are hundreds of platforms to choose from. These meetings can reach many, many people in a short amount of time and we are seeing multitudes saved. In the warmer weather we work outside off of our specially outfitted vans. In the middle of the summer we have church teams that come from many states to spend a week with us working on the streets of the city. This summer again we have many teams coming from different states to work with us in the open-air. Some now are experienced teams and when they come they are ready to go into the open-air immediately. We have several new groups that we will be training this summer as well that will be working in the open-air for the first time. Literally hundreds of people have received Christ as Savior last summer. Working closely with the local church teams encourages the loal church, trains their people in evangelism and puts more missionaries on the streets of the city.
Many of those who have worked with us on the church teams have now committed their lives to full-time Christian sevice. Some of them are preparing for the pastorate, some to be bible teachers and missionaries and some are in college now preparing to come into BOAM as missionary evangelists when they finish their formal training. It is not unusual with the summer teams working with us to see between 25 and 50 people receive Christ as savior each day. Some of those that have received Christ as savior in the open-air work are now in the ministry and have been for many years in various parts of the world. Newer converts are now studying and attending local churches and actively serving the Lord.
