BOAM in African Continent!

BOAM has been working on the continent of Africa since 2007. At present we are ministering in these countries; Sierra Leone, Liberia and Ivory Coast, and the ministry in the country of Guinea has just begun. Along with that, we have five other African countries requesting that we bring the ministry to their people. If you are familiar with Africa you know that even though there is a missionary presence, much of the remote areas are unreached. Historically most of the missionary effort in  Africa has been done in the larger towns and villages in each country.  Because in BOAM we emphasize training the nationals, they are able to get into the villages and areas where the western missionary cannot go. The Africans can drink the well water and eat the food in these villages,  which westerners cannot do.

LIBERIA (WEST AFRICA) was the first African republic to proclaim independence. It has got a population of 5.4 million. Majority claim to be Christians, but personal knowledge of salvation is a matter of concern. We have got a team of 8 serving in the country.

GUINEA: is another country in West Africa a French colony, predominantly an Islamic country. God gave us a team over there and they are involved in preaching. But they face opposition.

SIERRA LEONE: Another country in West Africa got their independence in 1961 has a population over 8 million. Islam is the major religion with 88% and Christianity is 21%. The need is to preach the Gospel is great. BOAM has got one team serving in the difficult area.

COTE D’IVOIRE is another country in West Africa which is an ethnolinguistic composition. The population is over 26 million, Islam is followed by 40% of the population and Christianity with 30% mostly Roman Catholics and some protestants. Though French is the official language, most of the African languages represented in this country.  BOAM has got six men on our team.

KENYA (EAST AFRICA) has a population of 55 million. English and Swahili are the official languages. The majority are Christians including number of cults. We have two evangelistic teams (total 10 evangelists) and 17 pastors serving the Lord.

TANZANIA is another country in East Africa BOAM serves. It has a population of over 61 million. English and Swahili are the official languages, but they speak 100 different languages and there are over 100 ethnic groups. Christianity is the major religion but not sure how many really know the Lord. Islam is the second largest. There 5 evangelists and 5 pastors serving Lord with us.

UGANDA is a land-locked country in East Africa and is named after Buganda Kingdom. It has a population of 43 million and Christianity is the major religion followed by Islam. The Gospel is needed in this country. BOAM got 5 missionaries over there.

RWANDA is another colony got their independence in 1962 from Belgium. It has a population over 12 million. The official languages are Kinyarwanda, French, English and Swahili. The majority are Christians, but they need to be taught. We have got 10 staff working in the country.

BURUNDI is one of the smallest countries in Africa got independence from Belgium in 1962 but became a republic in 1966. It has a population of over 12 million. The majority claim to be Christians with lack of teaching. We have 9 men serving the Lord through BOAM in this country.

In Africa, our vision is to reach into these other countries, train the nationals there and then reach the people village by village by starting Bible studies and planting churches. We believe Africa can be reached with the Gospel following this method.
